| APPLYING FOR YOUR EU RESIDENCE CERTIFICATE IN SPAIN |

If you are a citizen of an EU member state and want to become an official resident in Spain, it is no longer necessary to apply for Spanish Residency Card (Tarjeta de Residencia). EU Citizens can now register at the Foreigners Department (Departamento Extranjero) at the local National Police Station (Policia Nacional) by submitting the approptiate application and paying a small fee. You will then given a European Certificate of Residency in Spain
The Application Process
The whole process can be done in one morning, and should not take longer than 2 to 3 hours in total. The process is as follows:

Download the Resident's Application Form on this site for free.

Fill it in correctly.

Take the form (and a copy), together with your passport, a photocopy of your passport, and your NIE Certificate to the Foreigner's Department at your Policia Nacional.

Queue Up and Submit the documentation

You will be given a bill to pay.

Take the bill to the bank and pay it there and get the receipt stamped

Take the proof of payment back to the Foreigners Department

Hand it in

You will be given your Residents Certificate
The certificate is green A4-sized document with your name, address and NIE Number.
